This policy explains what personal information The Relocation Manual collects when you visit this website or purchase one of our digital products, how that information is used, who it is shared with, and the choices and rights you have.
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to sell and deliver a digital product. We do not sell personal information and we run no advertising trackers. We use one analytics tool (Google Analytics 4) to count visits and see which pages are useful — and you can decline it. We send email updates only to people who explicitly ask for them.
The Relocation Manual is operated by an independent seller based in New York, USA ("we"). We are responsible for the processing described in this policy. For any question or request about your information, contact support@therelocationmanual.com.
When you purchase. Checkout is operated by Shopify. To complete and deliver your order, the checkout collects your name, your email address or phone number, your billing address, and your payment details. Payment details are handled by Shopify Payments — we never see or store your full card number. We use your order information to process payment, deliver your download, provide support, keep required tax and accounting records, and handle any refund request.
How your download is delivered. Your purchase is delivered as a digital download through Shopify's Digital Products app: a download link appears on your order page, and the same link is sent to you by email.
Shop Pay and order tracking. Shop Pay is available as a checkout option, and your order confirmation may include a link to track your order in Shopify's Shop service. These are Shopify features governed by Shopify's own terms and privacy policy.
When you contact us. If you email support@therelocationmanual.com, we receive your email address and the content of your message, and we use them to respond and to keep a record of the exchange.
When you visit this website. This is a static informational site hosted by Netlify. Netlify keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser and device information, pages requested) for security and operations. The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser sends its IP address to Google to fetch the font files; Google's own privacy policy governs that request. We also use Google Analytics 4, described in the Analytics section below. Beyond that, this site runs no advertising pixels and no other tracking scripts. The forms on this site are the voluntary post-purchase feedback form and the optional email-updates form, both described below.
Emails we send. We send transactional email only: your order confirmation, your download link, one post-purchase feedback-request email tied to your order (one per order, no reminders), and replies to messages you send us. No marketing opt-in is collected at checkout, and we never add customer email addresses to any mailing list automatically. The only non-transactional email we send is the optional updates list described below, which you have to sign up for yourself. Order and download emails are currently sent on our behalf through Shopify's email service, from an address ending in shopifyemail.com.
If you use the voluntary post-purchase feedback form at /feedback, we collect your star rating, order number, and email address, plus — only if you choose to provide them — a written comment, first name, and relocation stage, along with the consent choices you make on the form (publication permission, your chosen attribution, separate website-use and social-use permissions, and follow-up consent).
We use this information to operate the review program, match your feedback to your order, and — only if you have separately opted in — follow up with you about your feedback. We never publish your feedback without your explicit, separate consent to publication and your chosen attribution (first name, first name and last initial, or anonymous). Feedback is stored to run the review program and is not shared outside The Relocation Manual, beyond the processor below, for as long as the program operates. You may request correction or withdrawal of submitted feedback by contacting support@therelocationmanual.com.
Processor. Feedback form submissions are processed by Netlify Forms, part of our website host, Netlify.
Duplicate-submission marker. The feedback page stores a small marker in your browser to prevent duplicate submissions; it identifies your order number only on your device.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how this website is used: which pages are visited, how visitors arrive (for example from search or a social platform), the approximate region a visit comes from, and general browser and device information. We use this to see which content is useful and to improve the site. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell or share this data for advertising, and we have not enabled any advertising features.
Your choice. If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, analytics is off by default and only turns on if you choose "Allow analytics" in the cookie banner. Everywhere else, analytics is on by default and you can turn it off with "Decline" in the same banner. You can change your choice at any time: .
When analytics is allowed, Google Analytics sets its measurement cookies (names beginning with _ga) and processes the data on our behalf under Google's privacy terms. Analytics data is retained for a limited period (at most 14 months) and is not linked to your name, email address, or order information.
Technical note. The measurement script uses Google's Consent Mode. When analytics is declined, or before you have made a choice in a region where consent is required, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics identifiers are stored on your device. The script may still send limited cookieless signals to Google about the consent state and the page request — such as the time, the page address, the referring page, and your browser's user-agent string. If you prefer that nothing is sent to Google at all, a browser-level content blocker works and this site functions fully without analytics.
If you sign up on our updates page, we use your email address to send occasional email about The Relocation Manual — new guides, meaningful product updates, or future editions. This happens only if you ask for it: we confirm your subscription by email before anything else is sent (double opt-in), every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. We record the signup and opt-in confirmation (including date and IP address) as evidence of your consent.
Signups are processed and stored by MailerLite, our email service provider, under its own privacy terms. The signup form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which Google operates under its own privacy policy and which may set cookies on the updates page when you use the form.
Shopify performs automated fraud screening on card payments (including CVV verification) to help protect you and us against unauthorized transactions.
This website sets cookies only for analytics, and only as described in the Analytics section above: when analytics is allowed, Google Analytics sets its _ga measurement cookies. Declining analytics means no analytics cookies are set. The site sets no other cookies of its own.
The Shopify checkout and store set the cookies strictly necessary to operate the cart, complete your purchase, and keep the checkout secure. Shopify also provides an automated privacy opt-out page for our store, currently active for residents of California, Colorado, and thirteen other US states, where you can submit a data-sharing opt-out request.
If we ever introduce non-essential cookies on this website, we will update this policy first.
We share personal information only with the service providers we need to run the store, and where the law requires it:
Each provider processes information under its own terms and safeguards. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for third-party marketing.
We are based in the United States, and your information is processed in the United States — Shopify hosts our store data there. If you visit or purchase from outside the United States, including the EU, EEA, or UK, any transfer of your information relies on the safeguards our providers have put in place, such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy frameworks where applicable.
We keep information only as long as the purpose for which it was collected requires:
United States. Depending on your state, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Our business is currently below the size thresholds of most state privacy laws, but we honor reasonable access, correction, and deletion requests from any customer regardless of where you live — email support@therelocationmanual.com.
California. The categories of personal information we collect are: identifiers (name, email address or phone number, billing address), commercial information (order records), and internet activity (standard server logs and, where allowed, analytics data as described in the Analytics section), with payment details handled by Shopify Payments as described above. We notify you of material changes to this policy by updating this page and its "Last updated" date. This policy's effective date is the date shown at the top. We do not track users across third-party websites, and we do not respond to browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals.
EU, EEA, and UK. If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA, or UK and purchase from us, you may have the right to access your personal data, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to certain processing, receive a copy in a portable format, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email support@therelocationmanual.com.
We respond to privacy requests within the time required by applicable law, and we aim to respond sooner.
Our products and this website are intended for adults. They are not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
