This policy explains what personal information The Relocation Manual collects when you visit this website or purchase one of our digital products, how that information is used, who it is shared with, and the choices and rights you have.
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to sell and deliver a digital product. We do not sell personal information, we do not run analytics or advertising trackers on this website, and we do not send marketing email.
The Relocation Manual is operated by an independent seller based in New York, USA ("we"). We are responsible for the processing described in this policy. For any question or request about your information, contact support@therelocationmanual.com.
When you purchase. Checkout is operated by Shopify. To complete and deliver your order, the checkout collects your name, your email address or phone number, your billing address, and your payment details. Payment details are handled by Shopify Payments — we never see or store your full card number. We use your order information to process payment, deliver your download, provide support, keep required tax and accounting records, and handle any refund request.
How your download is delivered. Your purchase is delivered as a digital download through Shopify's Digital Products app: a download link appears on your order page, and the same link is sent to you by email.
Shop Pay and order tracking. Shop Pay is available as a checkout option, and your order confirmation may include a link to track your order in Shopify's Shop service. These are Shopify features governed by Shopify's own terms and privacy policy.
When you contact us. If you email support@therelocationmanual.com, we receive your email address and the content of your message, and we use them to respond and to keep a record of the exchange.
When you visit this website. This is a static informational site hosted by Netlify. Netlify keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser and device information, pages requested) for security and operations. The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser sends its IP address to Google to fetch the font files; Google's own privacy policy governs that request. Beyond that, this site runs no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no tracking scripts. The one form on this site is the voluntary post-purchase feedback form described below.
Emails we send. We send transactional email only: your order confirmation, your download link, one post-purchase feedback-request email tied to your order (one per order, no reminders), and replies to messages you send us. We do not send marketing email, and no marketing opt-in is collected at checkout. If that ever changes, marketing email will be sent only with your consent and with a working unsubscribe link. Order and download emails are currently sent on our behalf through Shopify's email service, from an address ending in shopifyemail.com.
If you use the voluntary post-purchase feedback form at /feedback, we collect your star rating, order number, and email address, plus — only if you choose to provide them — a written comment, first name, and relocation stage, along with the consent choices you make on the form (publication permission, your chosen attribution, separate website-use and social-use permissions, and follow-up consent).
We use this information to operate the review program, match your feedback to your order, and — only if you have separately opted in — follow up with you about your feedback. We never publish your feedback without your explicit, separate consent to publication and your chosen attribution (first name, first name and last initial, or anonymous). Feedback is stored to run the review program and is not shared outside The Relocation Manual, beyond the processor below, for as long as the program operates. You may request correction or withdrawal of submitted feedback by contacting support@therelocationmanual.com.
Processor. Feedback form submissions are processed by Netlify Forms, part of our website host, Netlify.
Duplicate-submission marker. The feedback page stores a small marker in your browser to prevent duplicate submissions; it identifies your order number only on your device.
Shopify performs automated fraud screening on card payments (including CVV verification) to help protect you and us against unauthorized transactions.
This website sets no cookies of its own.
The Shopify checkout and store set the cookies strictly necessary to operate the cart, complete your purchase, and keep the checkout secure. Shopify also provides an automated privacy opt-out page for our store, currently active for residents of California, Colorado, and thirteen other US states, where you can submit a data-sharing opt-out request.
If we ever introduce non-essential cookies on this website, we will update this policy first.
We share personal information only with the service providers we need to run the store, and where the law requires it:
Each provider processes information under its own terms and safeguards. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for third-party marketing.
We are based in the United States, and your information is processed in the United States — Shopify hosts our store data there. If you visit or purchase from outside the United States, including the EU, EEA, or UK, any transfer of your information relies on the safeguards our providers have put in place, such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy frameworks where applicable.
We keep information only as long as the purpose for which it was collected requires:
United States. Depending on your state, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Our business is currently below the size thresholds of most state privacy laws, but we honor reasonable access, correction, and deletion requests from any customer regardless of where you live — email support@therelocationmanual.com.
California. The categories of personal information we collect are: identifiers (name, email address or phone number, billing address), commercial information (order records), and internet activity (standard server logs), with payment details handled by Shopify Payments as described above. We notify you of material changes to this policy by updating this page and its "Last updated" date. This policy's effective date is the date shown at the top. We do not track users across third-party websites, and we do not respond to browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals.
EU, EEA, and UK. If you are a consumer in the EU, EEA, or UK and purchase from us, you may have the right to access your personal data, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to certain processing, receive a copy in a portable format, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email support@therelocationmanual.com.
We respond to privacy requests within the time required by applicable law, and we aim to respond sooner.
Our products and this website are intended for adults. They are not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
